The British Association of Removers

We are members of The British Association of Removers (BAR) which is the only code of practice in the moving industry that’s approved and monitored by the Trading Standard Institute. All BAR members abide by the Code that dictates the standards of service you will receive, the quality of the materials used, the standards of vehicles and warehouses, staff training requirements and what will happen if something goes wrong. Most importantly the Code requires BAR moving companies to deal with you in a courteous and sympathetic way at all times.

Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme

We adhere to the British Association of Removers Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme Which is independently operated by; The Furniture Ombudsman

Meet the team

Gary & Vanessa Lomer – Managing Directors

With their unwavering commitment and endless enthusiasm and energy they continue to drive the business forward. They have endeavoured to create a company offering a unique and unsurpassed service.

Ashley Lomer – Assistant Manager

As a young boy Ashley would travel with his father on moves whenever he was allowed as he enjoyed both meeting the customers and  the banter of the team. As well as gaining and developing the necessary knowledge and skills that Gary has taught him, Ashley’s commitment and desire to do the job well never falters. Ashley is a remarkable removal man and with Steve, manages the operations side of the business. Ashley is working towards becoming a Director of G A Lomer & Son.

Georgia Jennings – Account Manager

Georgia joined us in January 2015 to run the office administrative duties. Whilst balancing a busy family life, Georgia’s pragmatic approach has bought equilibrium to a busy office. Georgia manages the accounts side of the business.

Anna Stocker – Office Manager & Estimater

Anna joined our team in January 2017 after working in Adult Services for the last 14 years. As well as providing quotes and advising our customers with their move, Anna’s role is to ensure  that the sales and operation teams run efficiently. Her combination of enthusiasm and attention to detail is a blessing to our company . In her spare time Anna runs her own curtain-making business.

Alice Thomson – Estimator

Alice joined us in August 2015. She is a senior and integral member of our sales team adding an attractive balance  with her kind and gentle nature and willingness to provide the best possible customer service.

Darren Turnbull – Supervisor

Darren’s father Carl was also a removal man with whom Gary worked at F C Eldridge & Son. He is another member of the team who has been brought up and encouraged to be part of the removal world. Darren- also known by the team as Daz is one of our HGV drivers as well as a highly skilled removal man. Daz brings a wealth of experience and balance to the team. He has an amazingly strong work ethic and brings a wealth of positive energy to your moving day.


Alison Croucher- Office Administrator

We were delighted that Alison joined our team in November 2018 to support the sales and office teams. Known to our team as ‘Ali’, her energy, desire to work hard and her infectious humour has bought a warmth to our team. Many of our customers will also have the pleasure of meeting her as she delivers and collects our boxes for all the domestic moves.

Self-Employed Team

G A Lomer & Son as well as employing superb individuals take great pride and pleasure in obtaining the services of some exceptional people. Some members of the team have been working with us for over thirty years, whilst others have successfully sold their own removal companies and now bring their skills, knowledge and experience to our service, whilst teaching our younger members of the team the ‘art of removals’.
